When I try to download ADWCleaner, either from Bleeping Computer or the official site, Norton blocks it and deletes it. Does anyone know if this is a FP? I can override Norton if that is the case. Thanks
This is the official download page for ADWCleaner. They update this software quite often during the year so it is always a good idea to download this tool right from its official page (latest stable version). Avast and Avira won't treat this piece of software as suspicious or unwanted even with PUP detection enabled. Norton, Kaspersky and possibly other fancy antivirus software may consider ADWCleaner a threat because it makes changes in system registry and so on. You can choose to either disable Norton AV when scanning with ADWCleaner or you can give up Norton for good, and install a more reliable AV solution. Please make sure you check first each and every entry from ADWCleaner blacklist before pressing CLEAN button. Some of the programs that ADWCleaner consider to be a threat to your privacy/security may be essential for your needs, and you want to uncheck them from the blacklist presented by ADWCleaner after a complete scan.
This does not answer your query but there is a dedicated thread for these issues. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/adwcleaner-updates-and-discussion-thread.345634/
