hehe, I'm a newb. I bought NIS 2007, which was real cheap at a local store called Fry's Electronics. I believe after rebates it was around $20 USD. HAWT! :D

id pay for norton, for a good price :)

but ever the retail what norton always ask for, the good thing is... because its such a big company, there are many for sale, each cheaper than the next if you look around.

My question is, does a person really need all that stuff in one package? A good AV, AS, and firewall in one package seems more than enough. Do you really need transaction security, pc tuneup, online storage, etc, etc, etc in a security suite? I guess they're trying to keep up with the Jones', MS One Care, and McAfee. Then again, the average Joe/Jane probably thinks this is a great deal. Everything right there at his/her finger tips. I think I'll pass.

Yeah maybe, all things being equal. Still more than I need or want. But since anything that has the name NAV or NIS doesn't seem to like my PC lately, I won't be using it anyway.

360 degrees is a full circle and they are using it to represent a full circle of protection. They included everything plus the kitchen sink.

Not really, and I doubt all those different things will make your pc faster.
In fact I think it's the other way around, making your pc even slower.

are you sure it doesnt slow you down.?
number of processes and memory usage?
    cpu usage?
    slow bootup time?
slow application loading and folder opening?
all you really need is a firewall, antivirus and on demand antispyware. you dont need half the crap in that suite

silly comment: i like the "keeps performance at a peak" features, does that mean it will uninstall itself when clicking that option? :D

seriously, norton is/av came a long way from 2006 and 2005 which were awfull but
a)why would you need all that stuff in the package->bloatware
b)they still have to improve the detection rates, optimize stuff, there are smaller and better alternatives.

Im sure a lot of the etc. kaspersky lovers would definatly change their statments and minds if kaspersky did a suite like that too...
I dont understand how to comment on products when you havent tried them. And also, why post in this tread when the only purpose is to spoil the joy for users who like the product or like to test it? This thread was surely made for people interested in the product, how it performed and so on.
Looking forward for some maturety in here, but ill guess we'll have to live with these "kid minds"...

Back to the produckt. Im gonna try it out one of the next days to se how it performs, especially compared to the McAfee alternatives.
