    Hello.

I am running Nod32 antivirus version 4.0.437.0 in a Win XP(SP3) machine. Sometime ago, after some updates, the antivirus stopped updating itself automatically. I need to either right-click on the tray icon and select the "Update" option, or open the program, go to the "Update" tab, and there click on on the "Update virus signature" link. Both the user-name and password saved in the settings are the correct ones (as shown by the success of manually-triggered updates) and there is no conflict with the firewall or connection (as also shown by the successful manual updates).

The NOD3e2 status is as follows:

    Virus signature database: 5736 (20101227)
    Update module: 1031 (20091029)
Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1293 (20101110)
    Advanced heuristics module: 1115 (20101116)
    Archive support module: 1123 (2010110:cool:
    Cleaner module: 1050 (20101207)
    Anti-Stealth support module: 1023 (20101125)
    SysInspector module: 1217 (20100907)
    Self-defense support module : 1018 (20100812)

In the "Update" entry of the advanced setup tree, the following
    selections are selected:

{ selected profile } : My profile [only option]
{ update server } : choose automatically [only option]
{ username } : has my correct valid username
{ password } : has my correct valid password

In the "advanced update setup" button, the following are selected:

{ update mode tab } : always update program components
{ update mode tab } : offer computer restart if necessary
{ http proxy tab } : do not use proxy server [there's none]
{ LAN tab } : system account (default)

In the Registry's "Run" folder, the following entry is present:

    c:\program files\....\egui.exe" /hide /waitservice

Any suggestions as to how to go back to the automatic updating
of virus signatures following boot up? TIA.

I would also run Ccleaner before reinstalling. The AV is updating fine for me.

Thank you Cudni -- Installing the new version of the antivirus cured the problem !

FYI to trjam, toxinon & siljaline: Ccleaner (which I *always* use) , checking the Scheduler, or checking the troubleshooting info did not solve the issue, but thank you as well for your suggestions.
