HI Ive been running NOD32 v2.7
For 4 months now, and its just struck me
That ive never had a notification
or alarm / warning of any problems..?

Ive been through all of the settings
Recommended ( Blackspears ) and they all look OK

Am I jumping the gun, and this
Period of no notification could possibly
Be normal..? I have also run
    The in depth Analysis option
Which found nothing, I’ve got a funny feeling
There’s some thing wrong some where
    with the configuration settings..?

Any ideas what to do next .....

to Double check that in fact the application
    Is running correctly..?

    Thanks Mypenry

Second.. did you schedule a regular scan?

    Yes ,

Third .. You could also check out the Eicar Test Virus given here:

I will give it a go, and post the results ...

but Ive still got a funny feeling !!!

My feeling is that everything is working fine. I am currently using the Beta version so I will try to remember Version 2.70.
If you look at Logs-> Threat Logs, there should be one or more entries for 'Eicar Test Virus' along with the time and action taken.

With Blackspear's settings , IMON and AMON work automatically without even notifying you of whatever . That's why you saw that item cannot be downloaded . If you want to see if you have met any threats , open Control Center -> Logs -> Threat log

If you have met any security threats , they will show there . By default NOD keeps log files for 30 days so if there were any entries older than 30 days , they are auto deleted . You met no malware , why worry then ? Relax ... :D

If you want to see alarms by AMON that it has caught threats , open AMON's setup -> "Actions" tab and choose to this:

It depends vastly on your surfing habits, the emails you receive, what enters your system by flash drive etc. The way that you have NOD32 set is so it sits in the background silently doing its job without prompting you for anything. You can adjust your settings to be prompted, however with many people this will raise the heartbeat considerably upon notification of an infection ;) :D

    Cheers :D

I haven't been hit by anything for more than a year... I'm beginning to doubt if I really need an AV.

For your peace of mind you could have your drive scanned by Kaspersky online scanner, just google it, and you neeed to do it with IE 6 or 7.

Going 3-4 months without any threats is not uncommon if you are a safe surfer, and you are careful with your e-mails.
