Hi everyone; relative newbie here :)

I recently installed NOD32 on my computer, and it's not seeming to recognize the username/password I set during installation.

I'm also trying to recover a lost password for an NOD32 install on a friend's computer; this was installed by another friend of his, and he was never given the username/password that was originally set (if any; blank fields also give a user/pass incorrect error). Is there a way to uninstall it without a password?

EDIT: The OS for both computers is WinXP SP2.

There is no way you can set your own username/password.

You must only input the actual username/password given, else the automatic (or manual) signatures version update will not work.

As to the forgotten password for protected settings (not username/password mentioned in your second paragraph), you can follow the instruction here:

    http://www.eset.com/support/ans/5h_2.htm

I think it will work only for genuine copy.

    Hi Dreamstalker, welcome to Wilders.

See this thread for entering a Username and Password.

To unlock the password locked (greyed out) NOD32 Control Centre please take the following steps:

    1. Please go to http://www.eset.com/support/ans/5h_2.htm

    2. Download the file unlock.exe and save it to your computers desktop.

    3. Go to your Desktop.

    4. Run unlock.exe by double-clicking on the filename or icon.

    5. A new window will pop up on your screen.

    6. Email the ID code which is displayed in the window exactly as it appears AND the NOD32 User Name shown in the Control Centre to the NOD32 Distributor within your country.

    7. They will send you your Unlock code by email.

    8. When you receive the Unlock code, run unlock.exe again.

    9. Enter the Unlock code in the Unlock code field.

    10. Click on Unlock

    11. Your NOD32 Control Centre will now be unlocked.

    Cheers :D

Aha, thanks. I reinstalled on my machine, and it works now (the d/l I got from another forum was outdated and I would guess cracked in some way to allow manual password settings from the outset).

I'm guessing this would also work for my friend's install as it now appears that his copy is not genuine.
