Is the PST file very large? If so...exclude in from real time protection (AMON)
Any prior antivirus packages installed which may have left their COM+ add-in? Go into Outlooks settings and check..remove if you still see any.
Delete the extend.dat file which resides in the users Outlook folder next to the PST
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Might also run the Office PST repair utilitiy...scanpst.exe

Make sure Office has all Microsoft updates....office.microsoft.com or use the newer full Microsoft Update (which is replacing Windows Update..you get updates for all microsoft products with this method)
