    Hello and Welcome to Wilders !

    Goto Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove programs
    Find NOD32 and Uninstall it
    Reboot

    Manually navigate to C:\Program files\ , find a folder called ESET and manually delete it

    Remove all your temp files using Windows' disk Cleanup
    Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Cleanup
    Select all and continue by pressing OK

    Repair Winsock
    Windows XP SP2 only

    Goto Start –> Run
    type cmd and click OK.
    Type netsh winsock reset
    Press ENTER . Restart immediately !
    Note that there is a space between the commands , example netshSPACEwinsockSPACEreset

    Download fresh installer of NOD32 from ESET's web-site
    Trial version
    Full paid version

    After you download it boot in Safe Mode
    Install NOD32 . Use typical settings. Restart after that in Normal mode.

    Update NOD32 . Perform full scan as mentioned here

    If you have problems , post back again ! ;)

    I've also been getting a similar error:

    Error occurred while scanning operating memory. System memory cannot be scanned (the kernel service is not running or an error occurred while loading nod32m1.vxd).

    I tried reinstalling several times, including downloading the installer again to make sure it wasn't corrupt. I've followed the steps in this thread and am still having the same issue.

    System is XP Pro. Could it be a conflict with NVidia dual display driver?

    When I try to launch the control center, I get "Error Occured during communication with NOD32 Kernel Service" and the (empty) control center panel automatically closes after clicking ok on the error message.

    Hello ! Welcome to Wilders !

    Is this computer running under Safe Mode ? The problem comes from the fact that NOD32's kernel module is either not running / not installed "correctly" or disabled from Start-up.If the suggestion below does not help , make sure you can find it if it is running/starting up upon reboot.

    Make sure you open
    Start->Run->type msconfig , press OK.
    Goto "Boot.INI" tab and make sure all options are unchecked.Confirm with OK.

    Thanks for the reply -- no, it is not in safe mode. All options are UNchecked. Service NOD32 Kernel service is showing as stopped.

    I would uninstall then reinstall to get the kernel running - then keep an eye on the kernel service - did oyu run any registry or system cleaner tools that could have knocked out the kernel entries?

    Hi Black
    Gone throught the thread link you posted and have done all the steps highlighted there, except the hajackthis log.
    I am still getting the error in my last reply #8
    What we have todo now is wait for the machine to fully load up and after the nod kernel error appears, close it and loucnh the nod32kernel service from the services.mmc. Then lounch Nod32 Control center, this works for now.
    Still baffled why this has stopped working on this partiular machine.

    Your local NOD32 support Office will need logs to investigate further.

    Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

    An update to this thread.
    After speaking to nod32 uk tech support, and doing countless troubleshooting scenarios to resolve the issue. NOD still hanged in services on startup, nothing shown in the hijack or autorun logs, no viruses/threats found. Th eonly conclusion we could find is the nod32 kernel service in Windows XP is not starting due to a corruption of the service or conflict with another program, which we could not identified.
    We even went downt he route of updateing to eset nod32 v3 but the machine would come to a grinding halt on startup, removal was done swiftly of this version and reverted back to v2.7.
    Techsupport advice to setup a batch script to run in the all users startup folder to do a 'net start NOD32krn', in services.mmc the nod32 kernal service is set too Manual startup.
    This 'bluetack patch up solution' resolved nod32 starting again!
    Sharing this with anyone still having these problems!
