Hello, my NOD32 (64 bit version 4) had been running fine for months until today. I turned on my computer and it said that the antivirus was turned off and when I tried to turn it on manually, it still wont work. It said that I should reinstall to correct this problem.
So I went to control panels to repair and I received numerous errors.
So I decided to uninstall the whole thing and then reinstall again.
But when I tried to reinstall I received this error shown below: (it is the same error I got when I tried to repair the file)

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this?

    Hello BarronN30,

When uninstalling, you want to go to the ESET folder in the start menu and choose Uninstall from there. If you see permission errors, try turning self defense off and then uninstall again. If that does not work, try running the uninstall from safe mode.

    BarronN30,

Boot into Safe mode and do the following:

    1. Delete files and folder

    Folders:
    C:\Program Files\ESET
    C:\ProgamData\ESET
    Registry keys:
    -HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESET
    -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ESET

    2. Go to Window's Services and disable ESET Services
    a. ESET Service
    b. ESET Http Server

    3. Go to Device Manager and disable drivers for ESET.

    a. In Device Manager, go to View on the menu bar and select "Show Hidden devices". This opens up "Non-Pug and Play Drivers" in devices manager.
    b. Disable "ehdrv" and "epfwtdir" drivers.

Boot back to normal and try to reinstall.

    Cheers,

    SamSa

    Thanks for the replies!
I tried both ways including one of the moderator's way of using the uninstaller but I still cannot activate my ESET NOD32.
But one thing that changed was that I did not get the errors when I tried to reinstall NOD32. After I installed, it came as automatically off and I could not turn it on through Windows or through ESET's window.

    Any other ideas?

Do a repair on ESET and are you entering the correct username and password?

If this doesn't work, you might want to call technical support to hash this out.

If you have updated to Vista Service Pack 2, updating the software and then restarting the computer usually fixes the error you now see. Try this and let us know.
