    Hi

I'm new to NOD32 but having read such great things about it I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm using the latest version 2.70.39 on a new install of XP Pro.

It installed and updated without a hitch and all seemed well until I did my first scan.

No matter which drive I choose (either individually or selecting all local drives) the scan will always lock up part way through.

The progress bar stays fixed where it is and the rotating line to the right of the progess bar freezes too.

Maybe its a coincidence but it often happens when the scan reaches the folder :\RECYCLER\

Also the last item listed in the scrolling scan log is ":\System Volume Information\MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase - error opening (Access denied) [4]"

Task manager shows NOD as running but the processes show the on demand scanner using 0% cpu. :(

Ive waited over 30 minutes hoping it would wake up but it never does.

Ive not had this problem with any other antivirus/spyware programme I have tried previously.

Any idea why its locking up?

    Thanks for any info.

    Hi there, welcome to Wilders.

    Please take the following steps:

    1. Check your settings against those found in the following NOD32 Tutorial: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=37509

    2. Turn OFF System Restore (note: by doing so you will lose all restore points) by doing the following:

    Windows XP Instructions

    a. Right click on the “My Computer” icon on the Windows desktop.

    b. Click on “Properties”.

    c. Click on the “System Restore”.

    d. Place a tick in “Turn off System Restore on all Drives”.

    e. Click OK.

    f. Close and RESTART your system.

    g. Turn System restore back ON.

Finally, run a scan by clicking on the NOD32 Control Centre> NOD32> Run NOD32> Scan and Clean.

Check the results of the completed scan.

Run a further Scan and Clean.

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

    Hi

Apologies for the delay in replying.

    Thanks for all the info.

Just wanted to give you an update.

Following the release of the Smart Security Suite I decided to give that a try so uninstalled NOD32 and installed SS in its place.

It hasnt suffered the same problem of stalled scans and completes a full scan in record time.

Overall it works really well so its staying!

    Thanks
