I've been trying to install the trial version, both with and without Blackspear's settings. Same results each time. Seems to work fine but I cannot get it to update for anything. It will check the servers and tells me it's up to date, though the signatures are listed as 1-26-2007, but Security Center still says NOD32 reports it may be out of date. Any input on this?

go to IMON-> Setup and then Servers and set there: "Choose automatically". Then hit Update now 2-3 times. It should work. :)

I don't see a server option under IMON. I see the setting in the update section and it is set to automatic. Multiple tried with Update now still report I'm up to date. What is the latest signature date?

oops... my mistake. It's about Update-> Setup... server: "Choose automatically". Go there. The latest update is 2063 (20070215)

Still no good. I'm set at version 2009 01/26/2007 and it always tells me I'm up to date.

    Well, then try reinstalling NOD32.
Go to www.eset.com download a fresh trial. (if your installer is not version 2.7)
Uninstall current version, delete ESET folder under Program Files
    Install NOD32 again and... update

Or you may try hiting update now again and again and maybe the miracle happens. :D

It is a fresh trial. Just downloaded today. I tried redownloading and reinstalling multiple times now, deleting all reference of Eset and NOD32 on the machine first. Still no go. I don't suppose the trial has updating disabled?

Absolutely not. The update should be working fine in trial.
Anyway, despite this, I've noticed this fact too to some of my friends to which I recommended NOD32. Sometimes Update refused to work. :( Try again later... or wait to see if somebody from ESET can comment on this.

    Goodmorning,

I've been using the trial version 2.7 for a week now , since i installed XP2.
It's been ok but i'm having the same problem, i cannot get the 2063 update.

Perhaps there is a problem with the servers ay Eset?

    Hi orangedalek, welcome to Wilders.

Not even I have it (automatically) yet, no doubt if I press update now it will arrive. I'd say it's just ESET balancing the loads on their servers.

    Cheers :D

Thanks Blackspear. Evaluation version with username/password is working fine now. Don't know what is wrong with the trial version.

Glad it's working , i've just forked out for a license and i can now get the updates now i'm off the trial version.

Are the trail versions prioritised? Perhaps when everyone has got the engine(0/1) that it's downloading today things may clear up.

Yes, paid users have priority over Trial versions.

    Cheers :D

I can understand why they'd give priority to paid subscriptions, but I installed a trial with definitions dated 1-26-2007 and can't get ANY updates at all when it's half a month later? Seems like the trial won't keep you protected that way. And it's even more confusing when the software tells you it is up to date. If they replace that message with one telling you the server is too busy, try again later, it would be a lot easier to understand what was going on without panicking over it.

Regardless, even though I understand it, I don't see how it helps Eset sell their product. After a couple I hours of messing with it I had already decided something was wrong with NOD32 and I was going to drop it and try Kaspersky. Until Blackspear stepped in of course. :)

yes, you're right here! That type of message will be quite fine.

Hope ESET will do something otherwise they'll loose some customers.
