I am running a newly formated system with Windows xp pro with all the latest patches.

I just purchased true image and installed the latest version from the Acronis web site. True image v11.8053

    Problem:

After rebooting the computer , I log in, windows looks like its loading normally and the mouse cursor appears and the windows background - but no icons, and no other pgms will load.... it just sits there with a mouse cursor and backgnd pic.

To make windows work - I do a Ctrl alt del and kill :

    "trueimage Start Service Process"

Just as soon as it is killed - all the icons appear, windows loads its programs and works prefectlly.

Does anyone have a solution or has seen this problem?

Sounds like, either TI hasn't installed itself properly, or more likely there is some other background process/service that is interfering.

Is this a DIY type computer ot a brand name one?

Its running a with an asus motherboard and 2 gig of Ram.and a 3.4 intel proc. It is a DIY type but seems runs everything else.

I also tried installing on another PC with SP3 with the same results. I even downloaded another copy to see if would make any diff, but no change.

I thought i would try one version back - on another PC and sure enough - the same thing...

During Windows load, i only load norton security and skype... so not much.

I thought it might be Norton but the othe Pc i tried it on is running Macafee - so dont think its the virus pgm...

    very weird...

Ok - looks like I found the problem

It appears that some nvida utilities were block the boot process for True Image.. I removed them from the boot process and everything working great

    Thanks for the reply...

Interesting, nVidia drivers were a known cause of problems with Acronis Privacy Suite (now discontinued), but I think you might be the first to report a problem with TI and nvidiadrivers.

At least you're up and running now.

Perchance was it the nvidia manager that lets you control diff monitors or one of the other drivers/features?

    Hello all,

Many thanks for choosing Acronis Backup software.

Radman, could you please submit a request for technical support with the attached Windows System Information file and the link to this thread? This will let us forward the case to our Quality Assurance Department and fix the issue. Windows System Information file can be collected as described in Acronis Help Post.

    Thank you
