    Hi

I am trying to use the add-on No Script on my Pc, but whenever i restart it, all settings for all sites get lost.
    How do i fix that?

A search on the net gave no clue to a solution.

Anyone else notice that after trusting JavaScript for a site, the next time you visit that site it is no longer trusted?

Answer :I had the same problem awhile back and found that CCleaner was deleting the file "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx3x.default-release\storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal" and "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx3x.default-release\storage-sync-v2.sqlite". I excluded both files in CCleaner and now settings are saved in NoScript. That may not be the same problem as yours but just letting you know my experience with NoScript. Good luck.

Edit: Note the above is valid if you are using Firefox as your browser.

conclusion: dont use ccleaner on firefox, never. there is nothing to clean for this piece of "software" for firefox where firefox is capable itself.

Hi pb1. You are also using Sandboxie, right? What you describe is a typical issue that some new Sandboxie and NoScript users experience when settings in NoScript are set while running sandboxed, this happens after closing the browser, and sandbox contents is deleted.

What you are experiencing is the way things are supposed to be. Solution: To be able to save changes in NoScript settings that you set when runnning the browser sandboxed you need to allow Direct File access in Sandbox settings to the two files below (this files are located in your Firefox Profile folder. This files is where NoScript stores settings).

    AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx3x.default-release\storage-sync-v2.sqlite
    AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx3x.default-release\storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal

Also, as pointed out by Wolfrun, if you are using CCleaner, you should also exclude this files in CCleaner. Otherwise, CCleaner can delete the info that is stored in them when you run CCleaner. This exclusions became necessary a few years ago. Personally, I haven't updated CCleaner in years so I don't know if they are still necessary in the latest CCleaner version.

See if allowing the Direct File Access works for you. Test allowing the access using your everyday Firefox sandbox. If it works, let me know. Personally, I dont like allowing Direct File access to this settings in my every day Firefox sandbox (for reasons that have nothing to do with security). There are many ways to go with this, I ll explain them to you later if your test is successful. And explain why I rather not allow the access in my every day sandbox and how I handle changes in NoScript settings in Sandboxie in a way that is easy and convenient.

    Bo

    Hi
    Thanks for your responses guys.

I do not have any cleaning program of any kind running some automatic cleaning and, No Script was intended as a replacement for S-boxie, so none of those situations apply to mine. Furthermore, i do not get any sort of message and no security program is the cause since i do not run any besides Hard_Configurator and Avast online security for the browser, so this is mysterious. Well, the search for a solution goes on.

noscript cannot replace sandboxie, if you meant this. NS is a script blocker, nothing more. sandboxie is far beyond this but cannot block scripts or any other content for webbrowsers.

Avast? seriously? do not use it on any browser, it will go worse for you otherwise. it made and will make in special firefox misbehave. (there is also an issue with the screenshot feature when ESET is installed)

try working with firefox outside sandboxie there is nothing that can harm your data if firefox AND ofc your used OS is current. if you are tiraling NS errors in sandboxie then it could be a matter of sandboxie, not NS nor firefox.
