NIS 2006 and Spy Sweeper V5.0 Major Conflict

    For users of NIS 2006 and I suspect NAV 2006 users, there is a major problem in SS V5.0 if the Spyware Installation Shield in SS V5.0 is set active.

    Norton locks up at random locations during a system scan and the only way to get loose is to power switch off. With the Spyware Installation Shield in SS turned off, NIS/NAV has no problems running a system scan.

    I reported this problem during beta testing but it didn't make the final cut I guess. I reported it on this Final release via the Webroot Support site.

    The conflict problem does not exist in V4.5 of SS.

    Clean install of SS V5.0.5.1286 on Windows XP-SP2.

    SpySweeper 5.0.5.1286 seems fine with Ewido 4.0.0.172b, A-Squared 2.0.0.437, NOD32 2.51.26, ZoneAlarm 6.5.722.000 in Windows 2000.

    Also fine with KAV 6.0.0.300, Outpost 3.51.759.462, Ewido 4.0.0.172b and A-Squared 2.0.0.437 in Windows XP so far.
