Next version of CPF is suposed to have full HIPS and Sandboxing.
I just suspect that adding too many features might lead to stability issues, resource usage problems and conflicts on many systems. Also many of users might prefer to use standalone HIPS and SandBox in addition to a rather plain FW.
I wonder if they have any plans of a version without these`added features. Or if they plan to have few more plain FW version( like current one) before going onto the all-in-one type of version.
    Anybody has any info?
Also what are ur expectations/ concerns etc about the expected version?
    Thanks

As for sandbox, it is not to be expected in V3. It's being considered, as far as i know, but i don't even know if it's being taken serious, or even if they thought of where it fits.
HIPS will come for sure. They seem pretty busy with that right now.

I even posted on their forum recently, on my little sandbox saga (...), that i do not want sandbox anymore. If it fits anywhere, it's in CAVS.

I still think a sandbox is the perfect firewall ally, but i eventually realized it has nothing to do with outbound control, nor firewall in general. It should be a sepparate application, or on another application, that isn't the firewall.

On the other hand, HIPS can be argued to beef outbound control. It directly affects how an application connects.

I don't know for sure if you can choose on install if you want HIPS or not, but i think so..

Oh, and expectations: i stopped having those. I just want to see it.:D

i actually see this as being a good thing aigle. remember tiny personal firewall pro (before CA purchased it)? it had features similar to the new comodo v3 firewall : firewall, HIPS, and a cool rollback feature. i have high hopes for this new comodo firewall, let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hi zopzop I really doubt that they can produce a thing like tiny, at least in near future. Let,s see. I never used tiny but it,s paised a lot.

I read at their forum that "optional-installation" of certain components is in the works for v.3.

19monty64, I think you're right. I read a post in the Comodo forum a while ago saying that HIPS and Sandbox would be an elective. I hope so. I'd like to get the upgrade installed, and read about the options while watching the forum for a week or two before I install the Hips and what ever.:ninja:

I think an all-in-one suite is going to be available, with the optional-installer. That way they can satisfy the "suite" user as well the person that wants the stand-alone. Melih has said he is committed to staying away from "bloatware"......and keeping their security-products FREE!!!

I seen at the Comodo forum that they are looking for a new name for v.3-firewall, so the release can't be far off! (Glad I got the "bugs" worked out of PS1.6)

:D I think it was a member of the forum who did that. That's not how it will come out.
Melih showed one 1 picture, and it isn't final. Search for Comodo screenshots. It's supposed to give you an idea of what they're up to. Not how it will turn out.

    aigle just pulled your leg:D

It will be interesting to see what options will be available in V3.

That sample is kind of kinky but too over the top. I think the creator let his imagination go free. You can bet the real final design will be similar to the present design. :D

    Green ain't my fave color.
I would still use Comodo regardless of color though.
