    Boot to Acronis True Image 8.0 Rescue Disk (Build 937):

    HP Pavilion n5270 <---> IBM PCMCIA Firewire Adapter <---> Nexstar-2 External 3.5" HD Enclose (USB 2.0/Firewire) - Nexstar-2 DRIVE NOT SEEN VIA FIREWIRE, BUT IS SEEN VIA USB 1.1 on Laptop <---> USB 2.0 on ADS drive. Thus, Nexstar-2 drive verfied good. Nexstar-2 drive is fully accessible under windows on both it's USB and Firewire ports.

    IBM T23 Laptop <---> IBM PCMCIA Firewire Adapter <---> ADS External combo drive (Firewire/USB 2.0) = ADS external combo drive IS SEEN, Thus, IBM PCMCIA Firewire card verified to be functional.

    IBM T23 Laptop <---> IBM PCMCIA Firewire Adapter <---> Nexstar-2 External 3.5" HD Enclose (USB 2.0/Firewire) = Nexstar-2 DRIVE NOT SEEN VIA FIREWIRE

    swapped the PCMCIA card from the lower PCMCIA bay to the upper bay, same result..

    Moved the Nexstar-2 drive to a desktop system (Compaq Presario 6000), removing the PCMCIA Firewire Card from the equation...

    Nexstar-2 now connected to firewire port of an ATI All-in-Wonder 8500 DV, and now I get these errors:

    Starting Acronis Loader:

    Loading, please wait
    ieee1394: ConfigRom Quadlet Transaction error for node 0-01:1023
    ieee1394: ConfigRom Quadlet Transaction error for node 0-01:1023

    Rebooted..

    Same thing, but got this line only once on the 2nd boot:

    ieee1394: ConfigRom Quadlet Transaction error for node 0-01:1023

    Moving the Nexstar-2 to a second Desktop, and utilizing it's 'built in' firewire port on the front of the PC (HP Pavilion 742C)

    Boot from the Acronis True Image 8.0 Rescue Disk, same issue, drive not recognized, but, I didn't get the ieee1394: ConfigRom Quadlet Transaction errors on this PC.

    I powered down the HP Pavilion 742c... disconnected the 6 pin to 6 pin firewire cable... reconnected this Nexstar-2 drive to the HP Pavilion 742c via a USB 2.0 Cable, boot from the Rescue disk, and the drive is recognized.

    Conclusion: NEXSTAR-2 DRIVE via Firewire connection IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE DRIVERS ON THE Acronis True Image 8.0 Rescue Disk (Build 937)...

    Please advise as to how I will be able to utilize my Nexstar-2 external drive with TI 8.0 using the Firewire connection.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello Stephen,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If that does not help then please create Linux System information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post for each of your PCs.

    Please also create Acronis Report in the way described below for each of your PCs:

    - Download Acronis Report Utility;
    - Run it and select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed
    with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for
    report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy disk;

    Please keep your external hard drive connected via the Firewire enclosure while creating Linux system information and Acronis Report.

    Send all the created files to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
