    Hi,
I cannot get the speech to work.
Have d/loaded the info as you say. i.e scripts and MS s/ware. I have put the scripts in the script folder(TDS) and the .exe (spchapi.exe) in the General TDS-3 folder.
I have run the MS program and nothing happens.(spchapi.exe)

I have followed the suggestions by Jookes on the pages regarding agentsvr.exe. As that is what led me to the speech thing. ( I was worried about it !!)

I have no idea what to do in control panel re: sa14/15
All I see under speech is a dialogue box telling me that 'SAM' is the voice!!!!!

I am green but now going red.
Learning is such fun at any age, but at my age much harder!
Regards and thanks for TDS-3 .

I am running WinXP pro. PG. SG. Spyblaster. Kerio home free, avast 4 free.
    on a Dell 1.8ghz.
    1gig Ram

Thanks in anticipation of a tutorial.
Should I go to TDS-3 diamond forums? er yes will do too.
But hope I get some help here.
    Cheers

    Hi,Chipbutty

You do not put it in TDS's folder, you just need to run the exe [execute], spchapi.exe is a Windows OS file not a DCS file.

Make sure the speech synthesis is at about 1 or 2.

    Thanks very much TheQuest,
    I appreciate your reply.

I have run the (spchapi.exe) prog. and I am lost. I am so new I still squeak, as you can tell.

I have no idea what you mean when you say set the speech synthesis to 1 or 2, I really don't know where to start!!!?

I know we all got to start somewhere and can't expect a handhold all the time but I am old and grey now.
If you could point me in a direction I could follow! but 'tis knowing where to look.??
Thanks for your time, I really mean that.
It has taken me two days to find this posting so I am sorry for the delay.

    Cheers Chipbutty. Steve

    Hi there,
Did you reload TDS after installing the spchapi.exe?
Is in your windows configuration panel a "speech" icon? If not, make sure you have the speech control panel as well from the msagent site.
In that you choose the SAPI4 speech engine, and SAM should speak in TDS.
Type in the bottom of TDS something like
    speak "hello Steven"
and you should hear the voice if all went well.

    Hi the quest,
Yes I only bought it a couple of weeks ago. Gutted indeed for all.
I hope I can carry on using it but I feel its best go look elsewhere as updates wont happen now.
Any ideas on a reasonable AT.
Cheers and thanks for your reply.

    Hi Jooske,
I do have the speech icon in 'control panel'. However the 'settings' box is greyed out. So I cannot access.
    I did reload TDS-3.
As The Quest says it seems academic now, I don't know what to do, at all.
    Best regards Steve

    Hi again!
    About the speech:
if you go to the other tab, you'll see a mesage SAPI4 installation discovered on your system and a button to change settings. There you can do a lot of choosing the SAPI4 as default etc etc.
Hope this helps and you get your speech working.

Registered TDS versions will keep working with all the many fine tools, its just the databases no more updated. '
It will at least be good for the older trojans/malware detection and most probably signatures will discover lot of the newer malware as well as suspicious, but there will be a growing chance for false positives. So in cases we need second opinions for the time being.
