Just joined. Trying to update definitions showing 8/03 as last definitions. Automatic update for spywareguard gives error command. Can't get on website either. Please advise.

    What is the error message?

Try exiting the program, then reenabling it again. See if that works.

I also had problems with Spyware Gaurd and the updates as well as accessing the website. I ended up uninstalling the program then restarting my computer. Then I reinstalled again and now it works great! I also have Sygate Personal Firewall which may have needed to recognize it and perhaps there was a glitch with the first download.. Just a thought. Hope this works for you!

Error: There was an error getting the update information file from the server. The server may be temporarily unavailable or there may be a conflict with the firewall software installed on your pc. The update information file may have also gotten corrupted during download. Please try again soon.
I have a Dell PIII/850/512/WinXP Pro and ADSL
I also tried exiting then finally removing the software, disabled the Win XP Pro SP2 Firewall, re-installed the software downloaded 03/12/05 and tried to update definition files again. Same Error message as above.
Is the server, in fact, down?

    Something is very bizarre --
I disabled my WinXP SP2 firewall, disabled my NAV, removed all traces of spywareguard with Add/remove program and JTPowertools registry cleaner.
Then I attempted to access http://www.javacoolsoftware.com to download program and I cannot access the website - get usual error message when website is inaccessible. This isn't a secret porn site is it? ;>)
Went to Google and tried via link, no go.
The spywareguard I previously downloaded is stored on my thumbdrive. I'll try re-installing that although I seriously doubt that will work either. I'm trying to use ver 2.2.0
    Any further ideas?

I should also mention that I am unable to update any definitions (07/04 current definitions) for Spyblaster which is also on my pc. When I click on the access link: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbupdate.html
I again get an error screen (page cannot display, etc as per usual website inaccessiblity with MSIE). See other problems with spywareguard updates.
It appears that these 2 products are "personna non grata" on my PC! Are they mutually exclusive? If one has been corrupted, will the other not work, etc?
I'm going to try one more time to download via other channels if they are accessible.
    Ray
