    Hi Lena,

The list of items shown in the main SpywareBlaster window are not items found on your computer. They are a list of the items that SpywareBlaster protects your system against. SpywareBlaster is a preventative program that stops a list of known items (those items in the count you mentioned) from being able to infect your system.

To use SpywareBlaster properly... Run it and when the main window comes up, press the "Select All" button (below the list of items), then the "Protect Against Checked Items!" button. This will set all the protections for you. Then simply exit SpywareBlaster and the protections will stay in place.

SpywareBlaster is meant to be run about once a week, using the "Check for Updates" button to see if Javacool has added more protections. When you download an update, repeat the steps above (select all... protect against...) to ensure all protections are set.

Please note that it appears you need to run an update now. There are currently 921 items in the SpywareBlaster protection database and the most recent update is from 11/15/03. See the image below. Your screen should show the same...

I did do as you said and got the 921 items. but when I click on the spyware blaster icon on my desktop, I have to open it and run it each time, is this the way it usually does? I am kind of new to all this spyware stuff, just started yesterday with Ad-ware, and Spybot and now spywareblaster.

Every time SpywareBlaster is opened it verifies the status of all the items it protects your system against. (You see that progress bar moving to the right when you first run it. See image below.) When it finishes that, you should see the list of items all in black lettering and all marked with checkmarks. This shows that the protections are in place.

When you run an update, immediately after it you should see the new items all in red and not checked. That shows they are new and need to be selected and protected against. Once you do that, the protections all remain. It isn't until the next update that there should be some new unchecked red items that need protecting.

So yes, each time you run SpywareBlaster it looks a little like its starting over except that the old items are all in black and checkmarked.

I understand that, but I need to agree to terms and all just like it was downloading the first time, and although I now have three spyware programs, I still am having the same two original problems that this all started with and that is what I was trying to get rid of, one that says I downloaded Golden Palace Casino, would I like to play for free, which I never downloaded and can not under any circumstance find anything that has to do with it and also the evidence scan, and when I click on uninstall that I go to a web site that wants me to download it, and nothing on it is there an uninstall. sigh.

    Hi Lena,

I analyzed your log here: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=16605

I'll remove it from your previous post to avoid confusion.

    Hope you don't mind,

    Hi Lena,

First, follow Pieter's advice in the thread he linked to above as that is the best way to remove the problem you currently have.

As to SpywareBlaster starting over from the beginning each time... I'm quote these two things you've said:

The icon that you have on your desktop sounds as if it is the SpywareBlaster "install kit" not an icon to run SpywareBlaster. Can you try running the program from: Start menu > Programs > SpywareBlaster folder > SpywareBlaster icon. If that works without asking for terms and conditions and all that, then the desktop icon is the wrong file and should be deleted.

When I downloade the weatherbug for weather on my task bar that is how Golden Palace got downloaded on to my computer I finally found out. I use Spyware that was advised by others, and have gotten rid of a lot of things that were hidden that I did not know were downloaded with out permission. i am so glad this list is out where people can advise us newbie's. LOL
