newbie question.

spybot search and destroy scans for and protects me from over 835,000 threats. and that number grows every week.

spywareblaster says their are 16,069 items in it's database.

so I guess with the large difference in these numbers, I have to ask: what is spywareblaster protecting me from? is it protecting me from all known threats currently out there?

just looking at this number I would have to wonder if spywareblaster is protecting me from everything?

since it's not a scanner what does it do? how does it protect me? Just trying to learn. thanks.
