newbie question backing up exchange with acronis

Hi all,
I've been a user of acronis for a while but this is the first time I've had to backup an exchange controler. I've read some of the posts here but I'm not familiar with VSS on win3k server.

Can someone point me in the direction of some good articles, posts or writeups that explain VSS or has a good walkthrough of setting up acronis to backup exchange?

Is there a set script that everyone uses in the "before and after" run of the backup to stop start exchange?

if you use VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) there is no need to apply some pre/post commands!
