Really eh, interesting.
Does the Zonealarm firewall use Kaspersky engine ?
Firewall is ZA engine. AV in retail ZA products use Kaspersky engine.
I installed ZoneAlarm FireWall free. I see it has some sort of lite Behaviour Blocker or HIPS. I have Zemana AntiLogger, ExeRadarPro and WinPatrol free alongside ZA. They get along pretty well. I think it might be some overlapping in protection among these progs. Any ideas what progs except ZA to remove? I made all security settings of ZA to High, Max or Manual.
I would say none, each of them cover slightly different areas.
Thank you. Slightly different - sounds good.
looks like a new version is out http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc...&sg=0&st=694421&documentid=345310&action=view
ZoneAlarm multi-language version 14.0.157.000 (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish) (Updated 7-29-2015)
including ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus +Firewall
Version 14.0.157.000 is the release candidate (also referred as beta 2) compatible with Windows 10 build 10240. They have indeed updated the free version+AV to be compatible with windows 10 but its not clear if free+AV will be still developed at the same pace as the retail version. Likely not.
If you wonder about changes, there are basically none except compatibility with windows 10.
ZoneAlarm Extreme does offer a full sandbox analyzer also for executables (version 13 was limited to PDF and office documents). Tested on beta 1. Not tested on this current version.
EDIT: a pity that beta 2 removed the sandbox scan of executable files.
I still have verson 11.768 of ZA Free Firewall. Would like to get newer version but concerned that other stuff would get installed along with it.
Some people have big problems with ZA Free F/W ...http://download.cnet.com/ZoneAlarm-Free-Firewall/3000-10435_4-10039884.html
"My Check Point contact explained that all ZoneAlarm products with an antivirus component install in "learning" mode. In this mode, unknown programs aren't blocked unless the antivirus detects them as malicious. To get the same results as with the standalone firewall, I had to crank application control up from its default of Auto to Max. You'd be wise to do the same".....http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2456175,00.asp
i just tried the new version. its a bit buggy, enabling and disabling real time protection doesent really work. but it did NOT install any toolbar or similar junk. the 'skip all offers' was gone so i was sceptical but it didnt install anything extra, not that i can see, not in firefox anyway
Thanks for informing about new version. I'm still satisfied with the version 13.2.209 so I won't change for new one.
Well, what you have installed is still a beta. If you want to ensure the product is improved please feedback directly the beta team. No report, no likely fix. E-mail address is published at the top of the ZA user forum.
I just installed ZA Free Firewall Version 13.3.209 after uninstalling 11.768. I don't think i installed any extra stuff along with it which is what i was worried about.
Is this a beta version of ZoneAlarm Free 2016 14.0.504.0 ....http://www.softexia.com/firewalls/zonealarm-free/
I think it's final. I even installed FW+AV free. Wow, it's alive!!! I'm happy again )
No toolbars and stuff
Today i downloaded from the ZA Site and did not get V14 but got V13.3
ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall 14.0.504
Hm, there is a newer version it seems?
edit: Huh, no. It's older beta actually. My bad.
Antivirus is always off after restart. Weird. Have to turn it on manually.
Yes, and Big Brother is watching you!
Then i will never use ZoneAlarm anymore.
Kaspersky, a russian product which i don't trust.
I just installed ZA Free Firewall Version 13.3.209 so i don't have to worry about anything and don't have a care in the world.
