There is a new version of MJRW up at http://jacobsm.com/mjsoft.htm#rgwtchr and it has the following changes :-

    Changes 1.2.7.3 to 1.2.7.4
    1) Automatic backup of registry occurs about every 28 days. The last 15 are kept.
    2) Option to restore any automatic registry backup.
    3) Changed default sweep engine parameters to do 5 lines every 47 milliseconds.
    4) Updating MJRW using the menu option now renames the old zip file properly.
    5) Other minor bug fixes and cosmetic improvements.

There is an additional automatic registry backup system that takes a snapshot of the entire registry about every 28 days and stores it in the directory MJRegBackup. The filename is of the form MJRegBackup_yyyymmdd.reg where yyyy is the year, mm is the month and dd is the day. The last 15 snapshots are kept. They can be restored from a menu option : this can be used in Safe Mode as administrator to rescue a non-booting PC. It should only be used as a last resort : it saved my PC when I accidentally knocked out the video drivers during an over-zealous session in the registry, cleaning out "LogMeIn"! :argh: :ouch: o_O :gack:

    Enjoy!

Graphic: The website is down?? Can't download the update.

Also, can the registry backup be turned off? (Can't download the new file so I haven't seen the new menu.)

    **EDIT**

It is apparently my issue. Something going on with DNS... :(

It was a DNS problem. I have downloaded and installed 1.2.7.4.

I don't see a way to disable to auto registry backup. Is there a way? I do system images and don't need any additional backups of any other type.

There isn't a way to disable the reg backup at the moment, but it is limited to the 15 most recent snapshots. I calculated that, even with a swollen Windows 7 64-bit registry of 200mb, it comes out as 3gb disk space tops being used. If there's enough demand for it to be optional, I'll add the functionality in a new version.

My mistake.:( :doubt: The version info was incorrect on the exe. Just changed that and re-uploaded. Also did the same to the watchdog process. It is the same program but with the correct version info stamped in, so you don't need to redownload if you don't want to.

I'd appreciate this feature being made optional. Thanks.
