:)Ok? I recently ( my fault ) crashed my computer. I'm familiar enough with DOS to have saved most of my important stuff and I NEVER use bootleg stuff. So $$$ are always a concern of mine. Lots of new stuff out these days and my machine has been reliable for over a year. New video card and I want to play CoD by activision. This caused it all as I got in a big hurry doing stuff and got all out of sync with my machine. Everything is fine now. But I'm ready to re-install game with new card in place. Can you suggest?? where can I go for info thats safe. I have spybot, EzAV, hijackthis,Ezfirewall, and believe I should be OK!
Am I kidding myself? Any suggestions?

    Hi again Valkyri,

regarding u being OK, I would want to say something.
in web world today its not only viruses trojans only but also spywares that are threat to ur computer. just to say from my side
u shud have Antivirus, Antitrojan and spywareremover to make ur comp almost safe, the rest safe being how you CLICK while on net.
there are various gr8 Antiviruses and Antitrojans out there and you can ofcourse see through the threads in the respective forum here for better ideas... you are quite well with EZ AV and firewall but, just to make it more OK go for TDS-3, Trojan-Hunter or if you want BOCLEAN and i think one should have spybot, ad-aware and spywareblaster in their computer nowadays for better results.
    oh...

    Hi Valkyri001,

I split off your new question since it was on a rather different topic than your last thread... Hopefully someone can advise you on this.

Can you just detail the question a little more? Is it that you are looking for a good and safe source for advice on exactly how to reinstall (such as the sequence, special things to do, or not do - like that)?

:)Thanks again, can i get those progs from lurkhere?
I do have spybot and our main computer(homenetwork) is connected with lynksys direct and two remotes. I have a second clone that is hardwired to mine exact duplicate except for programs, use for two person games/family.
    Will try these other protections.

    Hi Valkyri,

You said you already have spybot so I am not giving you the link for that.

here are the links I am giving where from you will be getting security softwares to be safe

    1. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com

get spywareblaster and if you think you need extra protection, get spywareguard too

    2. Ad-aware ---> www.lavasoftusa.com ,from there you can choose your download location

get these and do visit http://www.wilders.org and go through the given links of anti trojans, anti viruses and other security softwares...

any probz feel free to post again

    thx :)

    :)Ok! installed and ran spyblaster.
?? How do I know which of these RED thingies I'm actually using??
I did reconnect online and ran my media player which seem to work just fine. I even made the backup of the scan.
?? So do I just let spyblaster (fix) everything and try my machine again??
    o_O :doubt:
    Baby Steps.

    Hi again Valkyri,

spywareblaster is NOT a scanner and the red thingies are NOT necessarily present in ur computer but they are the evils that will be stopped before installation in ur machine by this software

    have a look here

    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=19172

i think u can get an idea of the software reading that

    any probz post again

    thx

:eek:The fact that scan and backup was for the program.
I selected all and turned on the protection. No problems yet and everything is coming in that I want so far. :)
