Outpost Pro v4 is awesome so far. It is definitely the most graceful in the handling of the leak tests at:

    http://www.firewallleaktester.com

I've tried just about every firewall that's ever been mentioned here at Wilders and I keep coming back to Outpost. It may not be the lightest, but it has great power and flexibility. It's a good firewall for the beginner as well as the expert.

My next choice would probably be Jetico 2.0 which was just released in beta. Jetico also has great power, but is definitely not as easy for beginners.

    Check them both out!

same here, firstly we had to wait whole of july for the end-of july release and now another 2 weeks or so...
But a full-proof version is more important than bugful version..

    1) Will this require an uninstall of OutPost 3.51 and reinstall with OutPost 4.0?

    2) If you have to uninstall 3.51 will you have to create new rules for 4.0 or can you save the rules from the previous version?

I allways re-installed new version over old and it allways worked, like 3.0 over 2.7, 3.5 over 3.0.

Will a current Outpost 3.51 license work for the 4.0 version? Also, is there any place to buy Outpost 3.x at a discounted price?

    Thanks.

Sure. You can upgrade to whatever new versions within your subscription period.

Yes, there is a way to buy Outpost at 50% discount.

    (1) Go to http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpostfree/download.php to download Outpost Firewall free version.

    (2) After 30 days of trial, they will send you an e-mail with discount offer of 50% to purchase Outpost Firewall Pro version, that is USD19.95 for a one year license.

    Oh sorry, my mistake...:p

You will get 50% discount after the first 10 days of download, and then 40% discount after 30 days. It seems the discount will become 30% after 60 days of download. Yes, you need to act within 48 hours of receiving the discount e-mail.

The beta is beautifull. As far as i'm concerned, it's the only firewall that's beating Comodo.

Edit: May not be this way for long

is this version more user friendly?

And easier to use for people who doesn't know how firewalls work as much?
