Compared to the previous version, the most notable improvements are:
    - solved a compatibility problem with CorelDraw X5
    - solved a compatibility problem with Acer control software
    - solved a problem inserting a license file via the installation wizard
    - solved a compatibility problem with some Dell wireless network adapter drivers
    - solved a compatibility problem with Game Guard (used by a number of games)
    - solved a compatibility problem with Sibelius
    - solved various 0xC0000005 and 0xC000007B errors (e.g. with some .NET applications)
    - issues related to upgrades from v5.0 (inactive shields, missing right-click associations, missing 64-bit boot-time scanner etc)
    - solved some possible deadlock conditions (relatively rare but possible)
    - performance related improvements
    - various UI related improvements

    :) Indeed, a long time ;) Welcome back. :)

Besides 3 other vendors, I'm currently using avast pro on a couple of pc's, to see how they perform. Try it yourself, you might be surprised

I haven't done this latest download yet, but yes my Chrome doesn't work running in the Avast! virtualization. Could the problem be that is because Chrome is already sandboxed for each individual web sight?

    You might try the following steps;
    1) Save your license key in a secure place
    2) Download 5.1.889 - http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe
    3) Download Avast Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe - http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe
    4) Uninstall your current version using add remove programs.
    5) Reboot.
    6) Run aswClear5.exe from safe mode, once completed reboot into normal mode.
    7) Install the latest version, reboot.

Excellent instructions! I usually uninstall with awsClear5.exe instead of uninstalling it from the control panel. This, I do in the normal mode rather than booting into safe mode. This saves the step of booting into the safe mode.

To do so first un-check "Enable Avast! self-defense module", which is under Settings>Troubleshooting.

    Best regards,

    KOR!
