ok thx, when i ran the installer online armor notified me about that someone or something was trying to close the service. that was just the online armor installer right? other than that update went smoothly

also, i noticed that there is no more 127.0.0.1 local host in hosts setting anymore?

I'm a bit fed up with OA. My paid version hasn't updated automatically since version 4.0.0.15. What's the point of having an update feature if it doesn't work?

I have had the paid version for a couple of years and never had any trouble with updating. In fact my OA++ has just updated from 4.0.0.38 to 4.0.0.45 this morning. Have you bothered to post in their forums?

I have 4.0.0.15 version and when I click "Check for updates" it says "Your Online Armor is up to date"?

AFAIK they are working on a 64-bit version. The latest versions of OA work with 64-bit *somewhat* -- check HERE.

As to updating, OA Premium updates perfectly on my computer. If anyone is having an update issue, I urge you to post it on OA's support forum.

Not 2 computers. 2 images. OP is on 1 image, OA on the other.

here that I bring from OA forum ,

Over in the Beta Test Team forum there has been extensive discussion of confusion about the purpose and function of OA's hosts file protection module. The major problem over time has been widespread misinterpretation of, and consternation about, just what this module is actually doing.

Many users, seeing an allowed entry like "filthypornsite.com" with an IP address of 127.0.0.1, erroneously question/complain that
OA has inserted the entry into the hosts file, and
OA, by making that entry, actually allows access to the site.
In truth, OA has only allowed another (trusted) program, such as HostsMan or Spybot Search and Destroy, or SpywareBlaster, to make the entry. Furthermore, the entry actually prevents the computer from reaching that site, using, as it does, the localhost IP address. All of this has been widely misunderstood.

As of OA v. 4.0.0.44, as I understand it, OA no longer shows the contents of the hosts file, thereby, it is hoped, allaying concern that OA is either placing or permitting bad stuff into the hosts file. The new release only shows a message if an unknown/untrusted program tries to change the hosts file.

As I further understand, this is a temporary solution while Tall Emu rethinks and implements a new approach -- one that will eliminate the confusion about OA's hosts file protection.

The domain used by Online Armor changed from tallemu.com to online-armor.com.

There is LIMITED Windows 7 x64 support. What this means is that the core x64 support is in place, but some features do not work. We do not consider the x64 version of Online Armor release ready, but as a result of user requests, we're making it possible to install Online Armor (paid versions only) on Windows 64 with this release.

However, to prevent a situation where a user un-knowingly installs Online Armor on an x64 machine and incorrectly assumes full protection, the installer program needs to be run with of a command line parameter – consider this as 'informed consent'.

Therefore, to get Online Armor Premium or Online Armor ++ installed on a Windows 7 x64 machine, add the command line parameter "/dragonslayer" when running the installer.

This is exactly right. I am not sure if we will ever add back a hosts editor to Online Armor, although I am considering adding one in advanced mode.

The sort of comments we get are, basically things like "The hosts permissions files are loaded up with dozens of porn and spyware websites located worldwide that aren't blocked".

I've posted on it many time, I blogged about it - but until my blog becomes mandatory reading, I didn't see any clean solution to it. I still wanted hosts protection, so now we control it at program level. If malware wants to access your hosts file, it's gonna have to get past OA - and if Spybot (or whatever) does - OA will allow it, and not list the filth.

I strongly agree about that :)

The latest version of OA is no longer making new users confused about hosts menu function.

I just upgraded to the latest version of OA free. Have a look at Options menu and all checkbox now untickable / grey out. is it a bug or corrupted upgrading ?

Then I tried to reinstalling, problems gone. Anyone has similar problem, its better to reinstalling OA free :D
