I think one of these days soon I'll have to replace the monitor that came with my old 98 box. It flickers and goes dark and I have to turn it off and on again to bring it back. My question is this: Can I just go out and buy a new monitor and plug it into my old computer and it will work?

ought to be no problem. If nothing else, windows can use "plug n play monitor" if there's a problem -more likely than not, however, there will be no problem.

Just keep in mind that older drivers (P&P, or whatever came with your video card) might not support all the goodies the new monitor's capable of, like (probably) higher resolution. But it should do everything the old monitor did just fine.

That's good to know. If it does everything the old monitor does, I'll be happy.
