no, but no fresh news for me. mozilla wants to claim to have a multiprocess browser which the lowest usage of memory. ofc this would take some compromises while chromium wont. this is why firefox - also as a single instance - perfoms better on older machines or with less memory. but the gap to multiprocess chromium is getting small with firefox 57. big announcement for multiprocess - now they put up to 4 tabs on each task plus tasks for addons and plugins. made me green.

what i can say for chromium as a contrast - each tab has its own task, addons/plugins combined (upo to six), but eg. ublock has its own task. chromium authors are aware of memory and mozilla will do same.

but if a tab in firefox crashes it could be possible to lose 4 tabs at all, that was not announced with multiprocess. in times where standard memory is about 4gig there should be no compromise about.

If they fully tested builds instead of pushing out builds to stick to their rapid release schedule there would be many less x.x build releases. Who ever decided Mozilla need to push out a new version every 6 weeks (whether it's ready or not) should look for a job in another field.

Wouldn't doubt it. I'm still using the 32-bit version.

If you don't like the rapid release cycle, there's FF ESR. It only gets security and bug fixes.

Yeah, I know and have thought about it. That's what Cyberfox is based on now isn't it?

That's right. Since I run LTS Windows, they're suitable for it.

Hear hear! It's dumb. I'll stick with the less frequent ESRs.

Don't know if it's just coincidence or 54.0.1 update but my default search engine was changed from Startpage to Google? Anyone else notice this?

same cycle - every 6 weeks normally, but only fixes, no new features. recommended if some need plugins or legacy extensions.

default engine here google, i never noticed a forced change - but i do update manually after backing up.
