So far, this 38.0.5 version has fixed a long time browser freezing issue that I experienced:

Bug 1067470 - Firefox window is not repainted sometimes after switching tab.

Hmmm sounds promising JR, FF has been freezing in all sorts of situations, so hopefully this fix will help me out as well, we'll see once I perform the update.

    Hi JRViejo,

Is there a corresponding issue of Firefox 38.0.5 in terms of a .deb file somewhere?

Tom, I'm running Firefox on Windows, however, I'm not aware of any Debian issues at the moment.

Perhaps someone who is running this new version in Linux, and have found a problem, please chime in.

    Hi JRViejo,

I am running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS on a desktop computer. It appears that the Portable Edition for 38.0.5 would require me to run Wine on Linux to be compatible and I am not very interested doing that, but rather a Linux version .deb file compatible with Debian, Ubuntu, etc. Linuxes.

Thanks for the information - good to know!

For the past few months, in W7 (not on XP) I experienced the freezing describes in that bug report. The description in the report is pretty much exactly what I have been experiencing. I usually end the freezing by right clicking anywhere in the frozen tab. I just upgraded to 38.0.5 my W7, we ll see what happens.

    Tom, you're welcome! Take care.

Bo, I believe Mozilla cured the issue this time; been running it without freezing so far!

Same here. No frozen new tabs as of yet, JR. If I don't get a frozen tab during the rest of the afternoon, I ll take it as the bug being fixed.

Mozilla needs to make up its mind
When it comes down to Firefox Security & Performance,
Electrolysis is, by far, more important than Hello, Pocket etc.

Agreed. But sadly, money tends to cloud judgment in software development just as it does in all areas of life.

FYI. Firefox 39 release for desktop and Firefox 40 beta 1 release, plus Firefox ESR delayed until this is fixed:

Bug 1151506 - startup crash in xptiInterfaceEntry::GetConstantCount with randomly hex-code named DLL.
