    I have noticed one thing after updating Firefox to version 98, it no longer shows a open or save dialogue box but goes straight into asking where to save box. I am loving it especially for downloading videos. So convenient to skip an extra step. :)

    for the moment change browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel <-- false

    for the future, when this switch will no longer be available, there seem no way as modifying handlers.json
    (for windows) right after
    notice: handlers.json is a single line

    I find the new download "flyout" in 98 extremely annoying. To stop it, one can go to about:config, find "browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel" and set to false.

    Thanks. It was the first thing that I did after the Firefox 98 update.
    Also, I restored the 'Always ask' setting for all content types, for all content types individually, I couldn't find a way to select the whole bunch together.

    its tied togehter with ask for download. dont know how long it lasts.

    alternative for policies (to firefox.exe)
    Code:
    {
      "policies": {
        "Handlers": {
          "extensions":{
            "exe": {
              "action": "saveToDisk",
              "ask": true,
              "handlers":[
                {}
              ]
            }
          }
        }
      }
    }

    Hi Stupendous Man,
    I noticed that suddenly when I want to see (and download) a .pdf file, when I'm in Firefox, Firefox opens it instead of asking me with which .pdf reader I want it.
    Is that an example of what you mean with "I restored the 'Always ask' setting for all content types, for all content types individually"?
    If yes, please tell me where and how to change it.
    Thanks much in advance!
