Still on ESR 78.0. I just hate the constant updates. I want a browser that works, sans the supposed latest and greatest.

If they made LTS versions of software, I would be happy as a sitting Buddha awaiting Enlightenment. Cheers.

Now that Windows 11 is public I see that the new Firefox was very clearly designed to match it. I can see not liking it if you don't intend to go Windows 11, but I also see why they did it.

Even ESR get constant updates until v94 of firefox arrives, then this tree (v78esr) is dead.
Current ESR is 78.11.0esr and has a lot of fixed bugs and security flaws. Thus, 78.0 is not quite clever.

I prefer a browser that works and that has vulnerabilities patched.

If I run the Firefox Setup 90.0.exe will it override my original FF 89 version erasing all settings and extensions and creating a totally new setup? Or it just updates over the existing version and keeping all settings and extensions?

    Thanks

When I've installed over older versions in the past it just updated without affecting settings or extensions. I would suspect the same would be true now.

Hey man. Yeah if you just install it over the top, nothing will change and you will not lose anything. Hope that helps. :)

"On Windows, updates are applied automatically in the background even when Firefox is not running."

Another unneeded service/network connection checking up on you when not using your browser, or am I misunderstanding this?.

Can that be disabled or left up to the user like it is now on ESR?
