If you look closely the GUI in the first picture is not as deep as the second one below it. The forward/back buttons are also smaller.

I guess there's a sliver of hope if Mozilla listens to the feedback of those against its removal.

It sure doesn't. IIRC back in the day there was a type of compact mode with older versions of Fx before much of the customisation and configuration options were removed. I wonder about Mozilla these days, I really do.

I think there will soon be no hope for Mozilla.

It certainly is BS. I don't know what's wrong with them. I've never known anyone deliberately try so hard to make a browser unpopular.

Maybe, but I cannot think of any other browser I would like to use.

Good point. I just don't like a scenario where I'm choosing between "the lesser of the two evils."

Welcome to the new world order, where choice is taken away.

I like Firefox, I use it a lot. If this goes on though I can see me using it less.

What is it about Firefox that is turning you off? Just curious.

I didn't know they had this setting on Firefox.:argh: Compact / Normal, don't make any difference to me with a 27 inch screen. :)

    I didn't either ... ;)
It doesn't make too much difference even on my 13 inch laptops. I do normally like small / compact modes. Doesn't matter too much, but I have switched to compact. :D

yes. and it wouldn't hurt anyone to leave it as is. folks don't even know it's there. it's neither an obstruction nor a distraction to others. so why remove it? and why put it in the first place if it's really an issue?

Proton is still not ready. for now i have disabled it because of this. if "compact" will be removed, i sure will find another solution, i already use some css tweaks.

"Finally, it appears the new Firefox update will also introduce rounded tabs, which refines the overall look of the browser. The current version of Firefox uses sharper corners."

Perhaps they will bring back the Australis UI which was my favorite ( yeah, in my dreams ) :)

Thanks again, @JRViejo and to @Victek I may be in the minority here, but I like the new re-design. I just downloaded the nightly to enable these options.
