New customer tomorrow - V5 license for V4?

I'm moving another customer to ESET SS tomorrow. They're something of a problem-child and I'd rather wait a bit before giving them v5. If they buy a new SS license tomorrow, will it work with the V4 installers I already have?

 

AFAIK you can use any ESET version and swap from NOD to ESS and vice versa any time you want with a current license!

 

if you buy SS, you can install AV - both 4 and 5. Because the SS license allows use of the lower product - obviously the reverse is NOT true.

 

No you can not.

Though you can use an ESS license for NOD32.

But you can't use a NOD32 license for ESS, as that would count as an upgrade.

 

That is why I STATED AFAIK!

I at least gave him some help and myself would never need to do what he is doing!

An ESET Smart Security license has downgrade rights for the following programs:

• ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Windows
• ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktops
• ESET Cybersecurity for Mac OS X

This is primarily used by business users who wish to protect a large number of PCs, but the option also applies to the home editions of the software as well.

Aryeh, this was more about versions than the different products. I do appreciate the fact you allow alternate product installs with SS licenses. It gives a feeling that you're willing to work with customers instead of beat them at every opportunity.

In this case though, we're simply not up to speed on SSv5, yet new installs can't wait. Hence the need for new V4 installs. There's also the case of consistency within an office where we add new systems before upgrading everyone.

Related, if anyone is still reading, is that ESSV4 downloads aren't obvious on ESET's site. While we do have copies on various media it would be nice to see a "previous versions" download. Pardon if I missed it somewhere.

ESET's licenses are for a particular product, not a particular version. Thus with an ESET Smart Security license, you could download v3, v4.2 or v5.0.
