Nothing to report. Checkpoint never got back to me on the Audit failure. It seems it is working fine, no issues.

No slowdowns. Scans are quick, surfing the net is quick. Still has the 24hr update cycle and it does use a bit of ram but not processor cycles. Has not crashed. The icon would not show up sometimes but I think they fixed that in the latest beta.

My only issue with it is this:
Code Integrity determined that the page hashes of an image file are not valid. The file could be improperly signed without page hashes or corrupt due to unauthorized modification. The invalid hashes could indicate a potential disk device error.

    File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZAForceField\Plugins\ISWSHEX.dll

It's a Audit failure of some sort. I only notice this on my win7 64 pc. I do not see this on my win7 32 pc.

Other than that, I really like it as it brings my favorite security combo of 7yrs ago back to life in one product! :D

I found this to have slow down my computer and caused unstable system, made slower boot, and slower response times, and slower program launching.
-just like Zonealarm firewall had done before.
Must be great for it to run on your computer :thumb:
I may try this again soon though :cautious:

EDIT: Just tried this again and looks like all those of the above are gone! & Love it's behavior/HIPS part of it

Kapersky free + ZA Firewall free on itself is a good deal

You should really give it a try Kees. The behavioral stuff is handled by the Kaspersky engine and the hips is handled with the os firewall and the application control slider on the zonealarm side.

Sorry, I'm too lazy to post screen shots.:argh:

Great! Let us know how you make out. Remember to check off the OS firewall options to ASK and crank up the application control to MAX and Auto

    OFFTOPIC ON

This is normally linked to video quality, pressure on hardware, speed of hardware, RAM available at the time of playing the video, HD speed (when not having enough RAM you will start using your HD), etc.

A simple test to perform, to isolate the issue, is to start your OS only with ZA and default MS drivers, OS software. This way:

1.) Click Start -> Run (Run on XP only)
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box (or search box in VISTA/WIN7) and click OK (ENTER in VISTA/WIN7)
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except zatray and forcefield
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
Monitor and ForceField (if present), and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

To free up resources you can also try to use a non ZA virtualized browser session.

If it works then you may need to think on how to reduce the pressure on your PC (while performing demanding activities) starting from disabling unnecessary services (see http://www.blackviper.com) to replace software requiring less resources or that better match your setup (including ZA if you need).

    Hope this helps.

    OFFTOPIC OFF

    Cheers,
    Fax

It has ZA forcefield services running? :thumb: Compared to other full packages like Comodo and Outpost it has limited OS-protection. On the other hand when users have UAC enabled, it smartly picks out the most commenly used attack vectors, so it can serve a larger user segment potentially. Combined ZA + Kapersky is a good deal for free. Interesting new 'suite' player in the freeware segment.

On my P4600 it felt heavy and checking CPU usage (to a lesser degree I/O) confirmed this. Back to safe-admin image.

The new (paid) identity services seems to be the rational behind this offering. I like this transparency (understanding why a company offers something for free).
