Anyways I already have a dual booting system with Xp installed first and then Vista on a single 250 gb hard drive partition it for both OS. I use GParted to partition my hard drive and just tired of this boring boot screen by Vista.

Now I want to use the bootloader for the Acronis so I would be able to boot from acronis instead of the bootloader by the one vista installed. I haven't received my disk director yet but should be here tomorrow. So I just wanna get a quick guide before messing up something co'z don't feel like starting over again ( have a wife that calls every 5 minutes and a kid that uses the pc too. ) lol!

Do i just install the bootloader directly or do i need any configuration?

Also, I have another hard drive and thinking of loading Mac OS leopard in there> would it be possible of doing a triple boot? One harddrive partition to two with Xp and vista and one harddrive just Mac OS?

Any help or links would be really appreciated. thanks so much and excellent forum.

If you're using Vista's boot manager, you'll need to separate them before installing OSS (or another third-party boot manager). Read this for more information: Separating Vista and XP when using Vista's Boot Manager

Is your Vista installation from a standard Microsoft OEM or Retail DVD? OSS has problems recoginzing some OEM Brand-name Vista installations.

I'm not sure about Mac OS and OSS. There are some other threads/posts about it, but I don't remember if it worked or not.

Also, it's highly recommended to create a current backup image (like with True Image, for example) of your drive(s) before installing your boot manager. This will allow you to return to your starting state if something goes wrong and you need to start over.

If it's a Microsoft OEM Vista DVD, then it should work okay. If it's a brand-name OEM Vista DVD (HP, Dell, etc.), then OSS may not detect it. The entry can be added into the OSS menu manually if this happens.

    Hi sgtkupal,

My two cents. I tried the Acronis OSS and found out, if you don't like it, and go to uninstall it, you lose the ability to boot to the operating system.

Suggestion: Use Acronis True Image 11 Home to create a partition image of each partition, so you can fall back on, before you install the Acronis OSS, so you can always go back. Otherwise you will need to reinstall the operating system.

Since you are tired of looking at the Vista Boot Screen, have you tried reducing the time you have to select the operating system to boot into? Only a suggestion.
