Currently I use service pack 2. No .NET software in the software panel.

If I were to install service pack 3, would I get that .NET software package on my computer ? I did some research, but I'm not sure.

I can't be sure, but I think in XP it usually shows up as an optional update, not a high priority one. You'd probably be offered the 3.5 .NET package. I don't think it's included in SP3 if that's what you're asking. That's my best guess, but again, I don't know for sure.

Nope, all of the .NF versions are optional downloads.

I updated .NET. I already had an older version installed though.

If you are using Windows Update you could opt NOT to use the Express feature. That's what I do. I sort through what I want to install that way. This way if .NET is part of it, you can uncheck the box for it.

    Thank you.

I use MICROSOFT update, and when I received the push for service pack 3 I declined, and ticked the box for 'do not offer this again' (or something like that).

But what's the EXPRESS feature ?

    You have two update options.
    Express or Custom.
Custom allows you to review and choose which updates you want to download and install.
Express downloads and installs all of the critical updates.
