I can't recommend any specific models, but I can say that ASUS is my preferred when looking for speed and user-friendliness, and Gigabyte when looking for something that's rock solid. Those two brands have always served my friends and me quite well for many years. I still have a celeron 800mhz system with an ASUS motherboard that's been overclocked to 1ghz and hasn't had a single problem in all these years.

Oh, and NewEgg.com is your friend :D

Go with the A8N-SLI premium. I have one running a 4400x2 it's a very nice board.

for just the mobo, id get either an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (nforce4) or teh MSI K8N Diamond Plus (nforce4 X16).

for a combo cpu/mobo, then go for the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego

NewEgg.com has good deals (with absolutely outstanding service), and http://www.pricewatch.com/ usually has the best deals on the net.
