I think my computer has been hijacked and I know very little about what to do. Many of the problems I've been having sound very similar to the other posts I've read here. My specific problems include my homepage constantly resetting to different sites, I'm plagued by pop-ups, my computer has recently started running slow, Internet Explorer is either freezing or shutting down/not responding, and my favorites list becomes padded with links to rather lewd web-sites that soon return after I delete them. I've installed and run AdWatch 3.0, Spybot S&D, HIjack This, and CWShredder - and although they identify registry changes and other problems, there has been no permanent fix - everytime I restart my computer the same problems return. I have also tried to install Spyware Blaster, but the computer was unable to do this due to "bad sectors" on my hard drive. I don't know what this means. Attatched is a copy of my last scan log from Hijack This. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

    Hi DRR510,

You have several versions of CWS.
Are your Windows and IE fully updated?
They need to be to give you a fighting chance.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lccaiaa.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = http://jksearch.biz/redir.php
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A9A674BF-771F-42E5-A440-D20DDA85A862} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\6zaoncpdz1uonu.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jopa] C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysstartup.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [win32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\win32.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [polstore] C:\WINDOWS\System32\polstore.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [jopa] C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysstartup.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [uninstal] regsvr32 /u /s image.dll

    Then download and run CWShredder
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

    Then reboot and download
    http://tools.zerosrealm.com/dllfix.exe

Doubleclick it and install in folder of choice on the root drive, in your case C:\

Run start.bat and press option 1. 'output.txt' will be created in the folder

Please post that report along with a new HijackThis log.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Pieter,

I followed your instructions and below are the two reports from start.bat and Hijack this. Just to let you know, when I ran the fix on Hijack This, it said that it was unable to delete “O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe” as you recommended. Also, I have a question - when I rebooted my computer after running the fix and CWShredder, AdWatch came up and said registry changes were being attempted and asked if I wanted to accept or block. I chose “Block” because I noticed some of the same words (jopa, polstore, uninstal) that I had just marked to fix in Hijack This - it was based on nothing but a best guess. I would like to know what to do if that option comes up again. Also, what do I do with the icons of the fixed items from Hijack This that showed up in My Documents after I ran the program? Again, thank you for your help.

    Hi DRR510,

    Download and run CWShredder
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

If AdWatch jumps up, please allow the changes we are trying to make.
You probably blocked the changes we were trying to make with HijackThis.

Then reboot and delete the output.txt and run dllfix.exe again to make a new one.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi DRR510,

First of all, shut down AdWatch.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://martfinder.com/index.htm?aff=4444

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Ad-watch] "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-watch.exe"

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [win32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\win32.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [polstore] C:\WINDOWS\System32\polstore.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [uninstal] regsvr32 /u /s image.dll

    O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINDOWS\win32.bmp

    Download and run CWShredder
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

Then run start.bat again and choose option 2. Hit '1' and enter dll name manually : C:\WINDOWS\System32\MJOC.DLL

Download and run AdAware : http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ (make sure you have latest updates) and run it.

When you are done, run HijackThis again and post the new log, so we can see if it all worked out as planned.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Pieter,

Here is the latest Hijack This log as well as a log that start.bat saved on its own after rebooting my computer. I hope this has done what it has supposed to do. Thank you for your help so far.

    Hi DRR510,

    Could you follow these instructions:
File was zipped for submission to Shadowwar
File is located at C:\Documents and Settings\David Rossi\Desktop\dllfix\submit.zip
please Email a copy to spywaresubmit at aol.com
Please include a link to your post.

The link to this thread is: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=35155

And if you could mail me a (preferably zipped up) copy of C:\WINDOWS\System32\polstore.exe
That one is starting to get on my nerves.
My address is pieterATwilderssecurity.org (replace AT with @)

    Pieter,

I followed your instructions and e-mail each of those files to the respective e-mail addresses. Thanks for the continued help.

There was one file that I would not go away, however, everything on my computer is running back to normal - no new homepages or favorites links, no errors, shut-downs, or pop-ups. So whatever instructions I was given worked and the problem seems to be fixed.
