One of my grandsons is heading off to college next year. I remember my college days quite well. Days were busy and filled with deadlines. After several weeks as a freshman, I wised up & bought a spiral notebook for recording daily schedules, appointments,, to-do lists, etc. Nowadays they have Planner books for this sort of thing. However, I think that this grandson would be more likely to use a daily planner app for his laptop computer. BOTTOM LINE: I am on the hunt for a REALLY GOOD planner app, to be used by a college student on his laptop computer with Windows 10. I will greatly appreciate any & all suggestions.
There are loads of apps like this, but which one is best is largely a matter of personal taste and needs. Notion, Obsidian, EssentialPim (free and pro), Ticktick and Todoist (ditto) are definitely among the leading contenders, and it is worth checking their websites to see which of these apps would be most suitable for your grandson. (How "techie" he is also plays a role in deciding what is best.) If you want additional suggestions you might consider heading over to outlinersoftware.com and ask the friendly and very knowedgeable people who frequent that very fine forum. Another excellent option, although it does have a bit of a learning curve, is Infoqube (which I personally use for planning - and I am a professor, and as such quite familiar with the world of academe). Most of the options I have mentioned are either free or relatively inexpensive (student discounts are often offered). That said, there is another app which is much more expensive but which many people are extraordinarily enthusiastic about, Amazing Marvin. Good luck!
PS One other thing I forgot to mention: some of the options I mentioned are only available for PC, while others are cross-platform or web-based; this is obviously essential to take into consideration when choosing a planner app.
I vote for Google Calendar sweet & simple. Syncs to phone. The 2x3 Calendar widget makes it an easy to follow list.
@LM1 -- The EssentialPim Pro was just exactly right! Many thanks!!! @zapjb -- Googledy's Calendar could be handy, but I want to give him a planner with more options.
