I see something like that in Edge and Brave. I believe it's caused by SpywareBlaster.

I think you are correct in that, Krusty. I noticed the same in Firefox at the very top of the Settings page... "Your browser is being managed by your organization".

Hmm, that's odd because I don't see that in Firefox.

@Rico hasn't given us any idea where he is seeing that anyway.

Looking around a bit, I found a page that identified various programs that users claimed were responsible for the 'managed by' message. These programs included SpywareBlaster, PastPass and Avast WebShield. The site was offering 'solutions', but some readers felt the steps were merely hiding the message, not fixing the cause. I have seen this message for years with Chrome, and now with Firefox. I suppose an email to Javacool might clear up the SpywareBlaster speculation.

It seems it has something to do with WD & Win Updates also. It's a regedit + GPedit, to turn off, and somewhat complicated to remove, but the reason for removing, why have it & any improvements from removing?

Managed by may trump, user admin? It shows up also in settings > network. Should, the msg. Show, using admin, seeing msg, would/could not allow changes till, blessed by the organization. This seems to be a work place, safety (restriction), tossed into windows.

It seems not many complaints about this, so no real apparent reason for removing it; should it cause problems, many more solutions would pop up, about it.

It is related to how is settled your MS account, admin rights etc. It has nothing to do with a specific app.

    Specific 'apps' use this feature!

see: New Edge: "Your browser is managed by your organization" - Microsoft Community Has to do with Windows 'policies'

This often gets complained about in Chrome now FF & Edge. The reminder shows up in Edge. This prevents workers from futzing with, settings.

This needs to have an easy way to change the default Windows policy from business to home. Home user should not be using regedit + it's export & import + GP edit, stands to reason it's hard to change. Hard to change thwarts savvy employees from defeating.

Correct. I didn't express myself exactly. These rules are imposed by Win and apps utilize them.

gpedit on a home is pointless as it does not have the same full power as Pro or more.

something has set some registry entries you are not aware of. you can try several tools like shutop, but at least i would say its time to recreate windows from scratch. To blame BitDefender but such 3rd-party antivirus' are too intrusive to catch it all. pity for you but go for it (clean install windows).

more a reason to create backups (not that crappy windows backup)!

    good luck

@Brummelchen Thank You! It's not an error message! Its safety is built into Windows to prevent unwanted changes by an employee. Without the build in administrator job would be more difficult.
Certain apps are built to be compatible with that Biz feature in Windows. Chrome, FF, & Edge give this warning accessing browser settings or making changes. Windows updates will display so will WD
It does not show in BT's gui.

GPedit for Win11 is a tricky install batch file, the more batch files. For me, I desired as a 'one trick pony' to edit the policy in windows that returns that msg. It gets more complicated and confusing; some say delete the whole key, while others talk, remove for specific.

It's a little annoying being the admin, & I can be managed by an organization that does not exist, but windows think it does. I can understand making removal difficult; a savvy employee can be stopped, & probably does not have the time to devote to thwarting on the job.

Thinker here for me is. See post #8 clicking the msg underlined, brought up a blank page, Whyo_O??

So that brought me to is this needed, does it, restrict me, & wants permission from a nonexisting org? Can this or the way it is interfering with other apps, causing a slowdown somehow?

FF updated acts funny recently, & will show said msg. After reboot FF will take 30 - 40 sec to load then be speedy cache? Click url with pics top of page pic looks good, any pic beneath, take a full minute or more to load. Can the msg or policy, is this a conflict

Close FF & repeat with EDGE pics load in half a second, the same pics FF takes forever with. New driver for GPU, squeaky clean Bleach Bit, SFC /scannow is good, DISM restore health, & many diff malware scan. Even dusted off for a try Emsisoft Emergency kit clean. Next, reset FF.

I think gpediting M$ policy, would make it a global change, so apss requesting that msg, could not bring it up globally.

Search for "shutop" zero results, & probably won't flag, as it's not an error.

Another year & I get my Wilders 20-year pin. LOL! Thank You for this great forum!!!!

Maybe Columbo solved the mystery, 'ImportEnterpriseRoots' true caused the message above in FF?

FF using about:config changed above value to false no help & reset FF no help. Demoted FF to not default. Edge default!

After all those changes FF still very slow loading pics. Same url in Edge opens pics instantly
