A new posting with 700 million LinkedIn records has appeared on a popular hacker forum, according to researchers.

Analysts from Privacy Sharks stumbled across the data put up for sale on RaidForums by a hacker calling himself “GOD User TomLiner.” The advertisement, posted June 22, claims that 700 million records are included in the cache, and included a sample of 1 million records as “proof.”

“This time around, we cannot be sure whether or not the records are a cumulation of data from previous breaches and public profiles, or whether the information is from private accounts,” according to Privacy Shark’s blog post, published Monday. “We employ a strict policy of not supporting sellers of stolen data and, therefore, have not purchased the leaked list to verify all of the records.”

There are are 200 million more records available in the collection this time around, so it’s probable that new data has been scraped and that it’s more than a rehash of the previous group of records, researchers added.

For the third time in the past four months, LinkedIn seems to have experienced another massive data scrape conducted by a malicious actor. Once again, an archive of data collected from hundreds of millions of LinkedIn user profiles surfaced on a hacker forum, where it’s currently being sold for an undisclosed sum.

This time, the author of the forum post is purportedly selling information gathered from 600 million LinkedIn profiles.
They also claim that the data is new and “better” than that collected during the previous scrapes.

A collection containing data about more than 700 million users, believed to have been scraped from LinkedIn, was leaked online this week after hackers previously tried to sell it earlier this year in June.

The collection, obtained by The Record from a source, is currently being shared in private Telegram channels in the form of a torrent file containing approximately 187 GB of archived data.
While the vast majority of the data points contained in the leak are already public information and pose no threat to LinkedIn users, the leak also contains email addresses that are not normally viewable to the public on the official LinkedIn site.

It won't be long until outright paranoia starts invading everyone's aspect of online entry of what they finger push onto registration forms and other data they initiate ripe for scraping purposes no matter terms to the contrary that their info will be safe. Seems there's no such thing as a reasonable choice. If it's online it can be swallowed up.
