Who wants to live forever? Here's a short but glorious review of KDE neon 5.22 User Edition installed on a 12-year-old LG RD510 laptop with Nvidia graphics, covering full disk encryption, look and feel, hardware compatibility, proprietary drivers, performance, responsiveness, resource utilization, and a bit more. Ha-ha, take a look!

    Thanks for the review.
Your previous desktop is about as old as this LG right? How about an article on how a desktop ages compared to a laptop?

The old desktop is from 2011, and it's much more powerful. When I ran it in late 2019 early 2020, it was doing everything perfectly. But you can't compare the two, as the desktop also cost roughly 3x more, had a midlife graphics card upgrade. I had in it 4-core 2nd gen i5, 16gb ram and 5 WD Black disks, plus GTX 960. Still more than decent by all means.

If there was a magic power that could tell me the old desktop could continue running without hardware faults for x more years, then I would have. I mostly went for a new one to refresh the hardware, after 8.5 years. For the new desktop, I expect to go 10 years.

    Interesting test.
In my opinion it could be interesting to try also Zorin 16 OS.

Zorin OS 16 OS Lite is perfect for Mrk to test on older PCs that can't support the Core edition. Its based on XFCE rather than GNOME.

You could extend the life of your LG laptop by tossing that clunky mechanical hard drive and replacing it with an SSD. That alone will make a big difference in how everything performs.
