Happy Thursday. I have for you a detailed, enthusiastic review of MX Linux MX-23.4 Libretto Plasma edition, tested in a triple-boot configuration on a laptop with AMD processor and integrated graphics and NVMe storage, covering fast installation and live session save, look and feel, customization, everyday usability and versatility, programs and tools, package management, long-term support, hardware compatibility, stability, boot speed, performance, responsiveness, suspend and resume, battery life, some problems, and more. This ought to be fun. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/mx-23-4-kde.html Cheers, Mrk
Solid review. I like that they include init the "14 seconds to login screen, 4 more to the desktop" is impressive. I smiled at "Notably, the mouse is set to single click rather than double click" It's the opposite for me. I like single click and get annoyed with I have to use double click in some programs. I also have focus follows mouse enabled for windows. <grin>.
I just sat back in my office chair last week and relaxed feeling like I finally have Mint 22 down pat. It is amazing. Smooth, etc...... Now I feel like a peek at this product is "calling me" to try it. LOL!!
I was going through some recent Dedoimedo Linux articles and reread your MX Linux review, as I'm thinking about what distro to try next (having used Mint Xfce for a while now on my tablet, but now I'm considering my daily productivity Thinkpad w530 -- which does have the dual Intel/nVidia graphics, so can be an obstacle). I'm curious if you've since played much with, or further considered, MX. Most of your recent reviews have been while using Kubuntu which seems to be your ongoing choice of distro, but sounds like you've been increasingly frustrated with unreliable Kubuntu updates. What might be holding you back from switching to MX, based on your good experience with it? Plasma? (though it looks like MX also supports Plasma?)
