You may also flush your DNS when you update your file but it is not a requirement.

There is an ongoing issue with email notifications. It is currently not known what the bug is that is causing some months notices to be sent and some months the system does not send the information to those that are subscribed.

While this is being fixed or cancelled as bulk mailings are now an issue due to new laws, etc. -- For those that are currently subscribed - do not cancel your subscription from the service until further notice.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hosts Safe.png

For those that use SpywareBlaster, you may backup your Hosts file with a little know but helpful feature called Hosts Safe.

Is it safe to use Hostsman for updates?
Tried it today and the update shown was dated august 2013.

    Hello Maldoran:

I've been using abelhadigital's HostsMan with only the MVPS databases for years and I have found the combination to be quite safe.

Is your HostsMan installation updated to v4.5.102? I'm seeing that the last MVPS HOSTS file was released on September 30, 2014.

    HTH :)

    Hi, thanks for your answer.
Actually I use the portable Hostman coming with Liberkey as I prefer portable software.
That version is way off. But would really the version number mean anything for the update URL?
Maybe the URL is wrong in version 3.

    Hello Maldoran:

You could try and capture the HostsMan update request with the network utility of your choice. HostsMan should be trying to access:
    Code:
     URL = http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.zip (port 80)
    IP Address = 216.155.126.40
    HTH :)

    Sorry for late reply.

    Thank you for the URL.
My HM had the URL http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip.
Updating it did the trick. Now I have access to the latest update.

    Thanks for your help.

See the FAQ's at the top of this thread.
They are most helpful in most typical Hosts issues.
You nay use the thread query feature to find what others may have already asked and had answered.

I could use a little help. I'm currently using MVPS Hosts file along with HostsMan. There is one (or more) entries that are creating problems for me on a couple of sites I use/visit often. I have no idea how to locate the problem entrie(s).

How can I begin to isolate the culprit?

Not sure how to configure AppGuard so I can also use Rename Hosts. AG seems to block something.
