I just installed open source RSS reader FeedDemon. I have it all configured and have the usual sites that I frequent that allow RSS feeds imported to it. What are your must have RSS feeds? Anything from PC and tech related, IT, network, PC security, video games, technology in general, etc. What are your must have RSS feeds?

I thought this would be a popular topic. Hopefully we will get more input soon. Anyone into Car Audio that has any feeds for that stuff like install tips, cheap prices, discounts, etc.

I use FeedDemon, the best RSS reader in my opinion. It was shareware few years ago now it's freeware :)

I just added Wired earlier today.

Creer can I get a screenshot of how you have your FeedDemon setup? Something just doesnt feel right with the layout and I have no idea what it could be.

Wow! I Love GreatNews and wouldn't use anything else. I just didn't expect to find somebody mention it here. It's rather obscure, but like you, I also love the layout. I also like the fact it's the only portable RSS reader. Web-based readers (like Google Reader) just don't do it for me and as for Google Reader, I got creeped out with my feed selections being reflected in Google's ads directed at me. Too. Much. Big. Brother.

The free FeedDemon synchronizes your subscriptions with Google Reader, I have used FeedDemon while it still was paid software, but I do prefer the clean interface of Google Reader over FeedDemon.

Google Reader also lets you share feeds with your friends. When I got used to the clean interface of Google Reader, and tweaked some settings I never enjoyed another RSS reader. (I like the navigator hidden, and I only show updated feeds)

Here is my OPML with 187 subscriptions, feel welcome to import this in your reader and remove anything you are not interested in. ;-)
You need to rename the extension to .XML (this forum only excepts txt as attachment)

Apparently we are the only ones who use an RSS reader.

I find a lot of people who have yet to even TRY any RSS readers. The so-called "death" of RSS proclaimed by some big-name bloggers is ridiculous. Twitter isn't replacing email and/or RSS anytime soon. Like I said, I really don't think most people have even tried using RSS feeds and they sure haven't been converted to Twitter for "real-time" information. Asking the average PC user, that's what I hear. What do people tell you when you ask them about what feeds they subscribe to? Same thing? It's interesting because I can't imagine navigating all the information without RSS. Most people I know still use bookmarks(!) and go from site to site to site. Ugh.

I still use bookmarks. Im in the slow transition from one to the other. Some sites I visit dont have an RSS or XML subscription so those bookmarks are needed. It would be sweet if there was a site that could convert any web address to an RSS or XML type link and import to your favorite RSS reader.

Yeah, you're right, I should have qualified that. There's obviously some sites that don't make it easy. Forums like this one, for example, would not be a good experience via RSS except as notifications of a post addition to a thread or something. I still don't use browser bookmarks though, I have a custom HTML page as my home page that lives on my local computer with links to all favorite sites/blogs and categorized by topic.
