    Hi all,

I wasn't sure if I should post this question in this section or not:

When I was installing Microsoft Security Essentials on WinXP in someone's computer the other day, it seemed like the definition updates were listed in the "optional" updates and not "critical". Has anyone else noticed this or am I reading this wrong? Would it just be a kind of general software update for the program itself? I wonderd if it was just a kind of "bug" on Microsoft's part. I use Windows 7 so I never ran across this....Thanks! :)

Maybe the user changed the update settings. I've never used MSE, but I'm wondering: does it update through Windows Update or Microsoft Update?

FYI. Microsoft Security Essentials Frequently asked questions.
tookerjeff, Win 7's MSE also lists definition updates as Importance: Optional.
