When today trying to install office 2007 sp3 from windows update MSE popped up and said there was a threat

    this is where it is

    file:C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\VVIEWDWG.DLL

    says it is Virus win32/SafeEHHeur.gen

    says it is "severe"

and it says it disinfected it

something has to be in office pack 3 for MSE to do this

This happened as I was doing the install

Someone from microsoft needs to fix this asap!!

You cannot allow something that has been disinfected

And how can micrososoft put out a service pack for office and not test it for viruses o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O duh

I put this on the MSE forum but no one is answering and i cannot find where to send this to micrososft directly- any suggestions?

First of all: where did you find SP3 for Office 2007? I don't have it on Windows Update, I can't find it on MS website either.

LE: Found it :) Let's test.

At least they are fair and also flag their own products. :D

It's a generic detection, and not a specific threat. It could be a heuristic as well judging by the Heur in the name.

In this case it's a false generic detection, ironically on one of MS own products too. It should be reported by using the link ronjor provided.

ok i sent the file off to microsoft and this is what i got back so far but since it disinfected the file (so far everything is working fine) i am hoping they will issue an updated definition file for it. I would kind a guess it was not mailware givien it is a microsoft file.
In their email they did tell me they are aware of the problem- go figure
