    Any changelog?

And have the update problems with sleep/standby modes been corrected?

    Hey,

Well, I have no idea if there is or there isn't a changelog nor if the update problem was fixed. Although, from what I could gather I think there is a user support forum that deals with that kind of questions and/or problems.
I believe there is a link to that forum on the same web page where the download links to the MSE Beta are.

    Regards,

    Carlos

Unfortunately the Forum is only for the official release.

I was hoping that some members here had run the new beta.

As before, it is updating as it should on "always on" XP machines but whether it is the same on infrequently used laptops!

Well, I uninstalled .1611 and installed .1676 (which I then upgraded to .1743) and haven't noticed anything untoward as of yet. This install is on a fairly old XP machine that uses a wireless connection, and is often in standby. Although it appears to be extremely stable, I have not seen it update after coming out of standby on its own, at least not to this point.

I don't think the idea is to update directly from coming out of standby but to re-continue the update schedule instead of dropping it altogether. I'd give it a few days, keep us informed please.

I am using it. It does appear my system is a tad faster starting up, other then that, no difference. Oh, and mine hasnt updated in 36 hours.

Dumb question , but where did you download the .1676? I run .1611 and would also like to upgrade.

Not a dumb question at all, I believe you need to sign up to download the beta file, personally I'm just waiting for final, no rush for me ^^

I don't have a link to the page handy though, sorry.

I highly agree, I was hoping they were going to release the new version this December :( I hope they fix the many conflicts in the next version.

Uh, you're assuming the conflicts are a Microsoft problems, where as they are just as likely caused by programs implementing bad hooks and breaking the API that MSE is using.

I was mainly thinking about the Conflict with Zone Alarm. They said they are working with Zonelabs to create a fix for an upcoming version.

I upgraded to the newest build (.1801, I believe) a few days ago and am **not** seeing this as being resolved, at least not on the machine on which I have it installed. It's simply not updating after coming out of stand-by.

The only problem that I ever had with MSE was the updating. Sometimes it updates, sometimes it doesn't. It happens on Vista or Xp machines. The only resolution that worked for me was to use a 3rd party task scheduler or the one the comes with the windows os and update daily. Such a silly issue that you would think they would have solved by now. It seems any AV that I really like as a updating issue. Other than the updating thing, I think it runs extremely well and offers great protection.

For those of you in the beta program, have you tested the beta with Defensewall? Is the conflict gone?

    No, issues remain.

I totally agree. If it weren't for the update issue, and the fact that after a scheduled scan runs, it doesn't show what was scanned, or even that the scheduled scan was run, I would use MSE. I'm running XP/SP3.

Geez! FINALLY!! Machine was brought out of standby and it grabbed the latest update within ~5 minutes. Hope this was not just a flash in the pan.

I have never had an issue with automatic updates with MSE, but I do shut down my pc every night. The only things I wish the MSE team will hurry up and fix is the incompatibility with DefenseWall.

The scheduled scan, after which it checks for updates, is still not working for me. In 8 days I have only seen this take place once; it simply does not run.

However, it does pick up the updates about 5-10 minutes after a cold boot at the start of the day. This is with a Vista not always-on laptop.

Seems to be running okay with Sandboxie.
