Since Sandboxie has now got its own forum section and the main thread has become very confusing, I have now opened a separate thread for this problem.

henryg1 and I have the problem that MS Office 365/2016 (C2R, Click-to-Run) no longer works with Sandboxie. The error message 1752 always appears immediately. Even a clean reinstallation of Sandboxie, with the default settings, does not fix the problem.

What could be the cause of the problem? Has Microsoft possibly changed something and Sandboxie needs corresponding adjustments?

Here are the posts from the main thread:

So there is no older Sbie version that would be working?
If there is non than its indeed something MSFT broke and will have to be figured out by us.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Unfortunately yes, even with version 5.33.6, with which it had definitely worked once, it does not work anymore now. Looks like Microsoft has changed something about the C2R system.

After installing the latest Office updates (or Windows updates?), Office works again with Sandboxie! :)

FYI: "Access" works only after adding the setting "Don't show Sandboxie indicator in the window title".
    Code:
    BoxNameTitle=-

    Sandboxie Classic 5.49.0, Windows 10 Version 20H2 (Build 19042.867, x64), Office 2016 Version 2102 (Build 13801.20294, Click-to-Run)

Not for me sadly - still the same error message.

Is there nothing you can do to make it work, David? Do you see the same problem? Can I provide you with any logs that may help - if so, please tell me what you need (and maybe how to get it)

    Sandboxie Plus+ 0.7.2

I am sorry for you. :( It is strange that it is still not working for you. It was also reported on GitHub that it is working again.

I tried again, and also deleted my sandboxie.ini file so it recreated a new one and picked up the software compatibility issues. I also tried in a drop-rights and normal sandbox, and with AVG turned off. No joy :'(:'(:'(

I don't know what else I can do, and to eliminate any issues I may have inadvertently caused.

Remove Office, fully. Then reinstall it. I would do that.

You are probably right, but it's always a pain to setup get it back to where I want :(

I'll take an image, then do a basic re-install of Office 365 and see if it works in SB. Wonder if I can simulate this using Shadow Defender.

A reinstall has sorted the problem!! I'm amazed but thank you for the suggestion :thumb:

I reinstalled over the top and it retained my toolbars and hopefully other settings. I tried it first using Shadow Defender, and when that worked did the real reinstall.

I guess I'll never know for sure what this did, although, thinking about it now, I have a suspicion that it could be down to some of M$' tracking that I may have turned off and which have been reinstated. Trouble is I tend to forget what I've done.

Be glad it was Office only and not the whole Windows.

I rather deal with a few hours reinstalling office and redoing settings than suffer days weeks maybe months without Sandboxie protecting Office documents.

Great news! :) Then it seems that Microsoft was the culprit after all. With the reinstallation, your Office has definitely been updated to the latest version - and now it works again. Let us hope that Microsoft does not break the compatibility with Sandboxie again.

Your comment gave me pause for thought, as I am always up to date and ahead of date as on the Beta channel. But I have just checked and am no longer on the Beta channe, so...!

Oh well, only one thing to do now - I'll report back in due course.

And of course it doesn't work with the beta! SO I have a choice to make...

    [edit]
Left the Beta program, Office updates and starts working again with Sandboxie!! Wasn't a difficult choice to make for me, and if i need eg a new Beta function, then I can rejoin the beta program.

    Unless...hello David ;)

Thank you for this information. There are certainly other users who participate in the beta program.

I hope this is not a bad omen for the release version...

JFYI: Unfortunately, Microsoft has broken the compatibility with Sandboxie again with the current Office update. :(
