MRG Flash Tests 2011, Ongoing Project.

They're starting the project again; the last results posting was December 9th.

Looks like another four score marathon:
1) Pass always
2) Pass mostly
3) Pass sometimes
4) Pass never

Nonetheless, very interesting tests even if short on detail.

 

While the flash tests does not reflect the complete protection capabilities at all, it's a nice event of the day to observe the results day after day. I like their huge tests they do and I look forward to them. However, as strange as it may sound, I trust my own tests more as I'm sure to test them the way I can get infected (I've never had an infection myself). As I clean friends' and friends' friends' computer at least 4-5 times a months, it's nice to know what software to use for cleaning their computers though. That's why I actually take time looking into all the big testing sites' reviews.

Specially the PUA article, i didn't notice it before

 

I wonder what happened to their facebook test. It was announced many months back and i never heard of it since then.

They even removed the announcement about it( atleast i can't find it any more).

also observed that MBAM seems to detect even-though Av cant

 

I think that Blue Point Security will Pass as long as MRG pushes the Deny button

This project was postponed because we have been talking with a media organisation concerning our work on browser security and financial malware. As a result of these discussions, we have been invited to appear on a TV programme to cover some of the key issues.

The programme is scheduled to be recorded late February and broadcast at the end of that month. We will be conducting a number of tests shortly and will publish them to coincide with the TV broadcast.

Hi SweX,

Bluepoint was installed on the test VM with its basic default settings, not the advanced option. With these settings it does not display any alerts, but operates silently, without user input.

MRG and kudos to Eset

There newest test is with SpyEyes, "zero day threat". Eset was one of just a few AVs to detect it.

Nothing like a slice of Spiced Ham for lunch.

SEVERAL security apps passed that test. Among them was Prevx.

Not a good day for the Bitdefender family. Nor the free rider bunch from the other side of the tracks.

Unfortunately for Eset, they fail most of the other MRG tests.

Nah, they come in around the middle of the pack. Prevx, MBAM, Bitdefender and Emmisoft pretty much take the cake. But,,,,,,,,

what I find interesting is, with pre-released updates ticked, I think Eset 4 may be starting to get a little taste of Eset ?. Normally, Eset would never have passed this test with SpyEyes. But they did. Nuff said.

They failed the browser security project and scored 38.33% on the 2010 MRG Flash tests where the average detection was 59.32%. See Project 26 here:

Yes I have seen that my little Derrick Jeter fan. And you are right but, keep in mind that tests were really created for determing a negative or positive pregancy. Nothing else.

So it goes back to the user and what they feel comfortable with.
